Due to the ascending importance of energy in the world, prediction and optimization of Fuel Consumption (FC) in agricultural tasks is merit to consideration. In this study a Massey Ferguson (MF285) tractor was implemented with a low cost and precise data acquisition system as a means to record and monitor the affectual parameters on FC such as forward speed and instant fuel flow rate during field operation. Many studies based on bioenergetics growth models have investigated the effects of environmental factors on oyster (Crassostrea gigas) growth and physiology. ABSTRACT Little is known about the toxicity of concomitantly occurring mycotoxins in pig diets. This study was conducted to evaluate, through meta-analysis, the individual and the combined effects of mycotoxins on pig performance. The meta-analysis followed three sequential analyses (graphical, correlation, and variance-covariance) based on a database composed of 85 published papers, 1,012 treatments and 13,196 animals. Contamination of diets with individual mycotoxins reduced (p < 0.05) feed intake by 14 % and weight gain by 17 %, while combined mycotoxins reduced the same responses by 42 % and 45 %, respectively, in comparison with the non-challenged group. In this study, we analyse the seasonal variability of the sea surface salinity (SSS) for two coastal regions of the Gulf of Guinea from 1995 to 2006 using a high resolution model (1/12°) embedded in a Tropical Atlantic (1/4°) model. Compared with observations and climatologies, our model demonstrates a good capability to reproduce the seasonal and spatial variations of the SSS and mixed layer depth. The abrupt delivery of large amounts of freshwater to the North Atlantic in the form of water or icebergs has been thought to lead to significant climate change, including abrupt slowing of the Atlantic Ocean meridional overturning circulation. In this paper we examine intermediate complexity coupled modelling evidence to estimate the rates of change, and recovery, in oceanic climate that would be expected for such events occurring during glacial times from likely sources around the North Atlantic and Arctic periphery. The objective of this work was to develop neural network models of backpropagation type to estimate solar radiation based on extraterrestrial radiation data, daily temperature range, precipitation, cloudiness and relative sunshine duration. Data from Córdoba, Argentina, were used for development and validation. The behaviour and adjustment between values observed and estimates obtained by neural networks for different combinations of input were assessed. These estimations showed root mean square error between 3.15 and 3.88 MJ m-2 d-1 . The latter corresponds to the model that calculates radiation using only precipitation and daily temperature range.
